F5Type vs Windows Voice Typing (Win+H)
Windows Voice Typing — the box that opens when you press Win+H — is free and works in most text fields on Windows 10 and 11. It gives you a transcript. F5Type gives you finished text: filler words removed, punctuation and structure fixed, shaped as an email or message if you want, with your own dictionary and snippets, and an offline mode. Use Win+H for a quick sentence; use F5Type when you write by voice all day.

How do the shortcuts compare?
Win+H opens Voice Typing. F5Type uses Ctrl+Shift+Space on Windows by default, because most laptop function keys need Fn; you can switch to F5 (Fn+F5 on most laptops) in Settings. The two shortcuts do not clash. More in How to dictate on Windows 11 in any app.
Frequently asked questions
Is Win+H the same as F5Type?
+
No. Win+H types what you said. F5Type also removes filler words, fixes punctuation and can shape the text as an email, message, summary or action items.
Does F5Type work offline on Windows?
+
Yes. Turn on Settings → Local Mode → Offline processing; it downloads a speech model of about 141 MB once, then works without a connection.
Does F5Type type into apps run as administrator?
+
Windows does not let other apps type into elevated apps, so F5Type copies the text instead — press Ctrl+V to paste it.
Which Windows versions does F5Type support?
+
Windows 10 and 11, from the Microsoft Store.
Is F5Type free?
+
There is a free plan with 60 minutes a month. Pro removes the limit.
